Defunding the Police
In response to the widespread attention on isolated cases of police misconduct, the Progressive agenda has made it a point to reduce funding for police departments around the country. The increased attention on these incidents has made it abundantly clear that police departments need more funding for increased training in order to minimize the potential for future misconduct. However, there has been a loud call from progressives for funding to be shifted away from more advanced training and instead have it focus on social programs. While the intentions are good, their solutions lead to reduced security and increased criminal activity. Rather than reducing funding, the goal should be increased accountability, addressing issues such as no-knock warrants and Civil Asset Forfeiture, and access to specialized training. Building a better community relationship with law enforcement is the key to keeping everyone safe.
